Finnbear Model L61R 338 Win Mag

Been watching Gunbroker for quite a time now for one of these beauties. The 375H&H Mag is just beyond reasonable to reload and shoot unless you know someone in Africa. However this one has possibilities Stateside, and just may get used for a hunt before I fall off the perch. Prices vary substantially on these, but the oldies with the white outline pistol grip cap are the ones that draw my attention. Likely the oldest of the L61R family these have some real appeal in stock configuration and style.

This particular rifle looks as if it's spent it's entire life in a safe. The collapsed recoil pad is telltale. However no wear on the cocking piece or bolt shows that it has either been fired very little or not at all. The gun is like new all over. No signs of abuse or use at all. fine choice for my collection.

Paid $950 shipped which is a little high, but not for such a piece. I feel lucky to have it.

Note the "Artillery" style rifling used on the larger caliber rifle.

A very nice "Pre Garcia" Bofors Steel rifle. With the typical "safe queen" collapsed recoil pad. I may give in and pay for new authentic pads, but for the time being, will do without upgrading them.
