Recently found a nice 12 gauge Remington model 11-48 aka 48. The attracting features were Vent Rib and Skeet Choke. These old Remington's are fine shotguns. I did my normal thorough cleaning and inspection before firing. Discovering some differences between this and newer models. The feed latch isn't staked in, but held in place by the trigger group. Installation requires that the trigger be placed in to press the springy feed latch into position. Then the large pin first, then rotate the front down into place, and insert the small pin.

It shoots great. I have many 12 gauge 1100 variants and this one holds it's own with the best of them. I installed one of my 3lb springs, but the trigger group is slightly different and the longer spring would not fit properly. I used a 2lb spring which yielded a nice trigger pull somewhere between 2-1/2 & 3lb

One of the benefits of these "long recoil" actions is that no dirty gas is dumped into the action. So cleaning is much easier.

The 11-48's are popular in sub-gauges and still demand a pretty high price. Those with after market chokes don't interest me much, however in 12 gauge it's difficult to find one without a Poly Choke, or a Cutt's compensator, either of which reduces the value of the shotgun.
