Pervious Concrete
Pervious Concrete is a coarse aggregate mixed with cement and water. High quantities of oil and other hydrocarbon polutants are carried into stormwater from parking lots and driveways. Pervious Concrete (having only 75%-85% density) allows 3 to 8 gallons per minute per square ft to pass through to the soil below where these polutants are filtered out and dissipated naturally. This puts rainwater back in the ground where it belongs without polluting our rivers and streams.
Pervious concrete is the only answer for some of our Beach communities. Atlantic Beach offers a 100% credit, and Emerald Isle offers 50% credit towards lot improvements using Pervious concrete. Stormwater mitigation plans are a required part of concrete improvements in these areas, many of which are already beyond what is allowable under present rules. Ask about our client assistance services when you choose NC-CONCRETE as your contractor. We'll do the paperwork and obtain your permits.
